Polishing Compounds “Gomata”– From Cut to High Gloss
In metal finishing workshops, “gomata” bars are the core polishing compounds used after sanding to bring the surface from rough cut to mirror shine. Each bar is a solid block made from abrasive grains and waxy binders, available in local and imported versions, often with popular Turkish‑origin formulas for stable performance on steel and other metals. The compounds are produced in several grades, typically moving from grade 1 (strong cutting and scratch removal) up to grade 5 (very fine finishing and coloring), so the operator can match the bar to each polishing stage. Colors are not just for looks; every color represents a specific cut and application, from aggressive first‑step compounds to ultra‑fine bars used for the final deep gloss on the metal surface.
